I couldn’t find a way out, so I ended up sleeping in this arena last night. I keep looking around for how I came through, wandering around this arena looking for a way back, but all I find is dark, abandoned hallways and signs in a language I don’t recognize.
I don’t understand how this happened. It’s not like I did anything really wrong, I just went through the wrong doorway, and now I’m trapped here? It’s not fair. I missing my first day of camp and I have no idea how to get back.
The doorway I think I came through has a big machine next to it with different settings, and a frame around it that almost looks like some kind of portal from a sci-fi movie, except that there’s no power in it. There’s a leaky spot in the ceiling above the machine, and it looks like there’s a pretty constant drip of water that’s been screwing it up.
I spend most of today trying different buttons on the machine, trying to get it to power up and open the door back to the university so I can get to my basketball camp. It seems like a stretch that this actually powers a portal, but I’ve got nothing else as far as theories right now.
And the bugs that have been buzzing around don’t look like anything I’ve seen on Earth.
My phone is low on battery, but like I said, there’s electricity in this place. I’m not sure if it’s powered by solar cells or what, because the lights come on at night without anyone flipping switches and I guarantee no one is paying a power bill around here. I happen to have my phone and exercise band chargers, because I was charging while practicing free throws in the gym last night.
I saw a video once where someone made a makeshift adapter for a European outlet using some spare wires. I know it’s dangerous to play with electricity, but if I lose my phone I’m really sunk out here. So far there’s been no signal, but I might be able to find my way to civilization and Wi-Fi if I’m willing to walk further. I’m scared of leaving this place, since as far as I know, this is the only way back to the university, and Earth.
I’ve been watching too many movies. Of course we’re still on Earth. And tomorrow, when my phone has a full charge, I’m going to find a signal and call for help. Mom might be bugged that I couldn’t last one day at basketball camp without having a weird emergency, but I don’t care. I just want to go home.
